This upskill class introduces students to the creative practice of journal designing, combining daily writing with art and craft. Students will explore different journal topics such as daily reflections, gratitude, personal goals, memories, and creative storytelling. Each class will include short writing activities where students express their thoughts and ideas in their journals. Students will also learn to decorate and personalize their journal pages using sketches, stickers, colored pens, and simple artistic techniques. They will experiment with creating art using every day and natural materials such as leaves, flowers, paper pieces, ribbons, stickers, and textured objects to design unique pages. The class encourages creativity, mindfulness, and self-expression while helping students develop a regular journaling habit. By the end of the course, students will have a beautifully designed personal journal that reflects their ideas, creativity, and experiences.

Students will develop several creative and personal skills through this journal designing class: Creative expression – expressing thoughts, feelings, and ideas through writing, drawings, and page design. Basic art and craft skills – using sketches, stickers, colored pens, and materials like leaves, paper, and ribbons to decorate journal pages. Writing skills – practicing short reflections, storytelling, and writing on different guided topics. Observation and imagination – turning everyday objects and natural materials into creative art elements. Organization and design skills – learning how to arrange text, drawings, and decorations on a page in an appealing way. Mindfulness and self-reflection – developing the habit of thinking about experiences and recording them regularly. Things We Are Thankful For The students will write about people, experiences, or things they are grateful for in their lives. The students will use stickers, pictures, and creative designs to make their gratitude pages colorful and meaningful. The students will share positive thoughts and reflect on the importance of appreciation and kindness.

Things That Make Me Happy The students will write about activities, people, places, or memories that bring them happiness. The students will decorate their pages with cheerful stickers, drawings, and bright colors to express positive emotions. The students will reflect on how these happy moments help them feel relaxed and motivated.

Important Things I Have Experienced The students will write about meaningful experiences or memorable events that have influenced their lives. The students will add stickers, photos, or illustrations to make their journal entries more personal and creative. My Safe Zone The students will describe places, people, or activities that make them feel safe, calm, and comfortable.
